Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when a nerve in your wrist becomes irritated, usually through repetitive motion. That nerve passes through a space in your wrist with other tendons. That space is called the carpal tunnel. Once that nerve is irritated it can lead to pain in your hands and fingers and loss of strength in your hand.
